BSOD? Here's The Fix for the CrowdStrike Outage

Millions of people, businesses, and organizations have been affected by the outage suffered by Microsoft and its security partner CrowdStrike, including banks, airlines, hospitals, and even 911 emergency services.


Oakland Solutions has been monitoring the issue, which began early Friday morning. We've received instructions on a workaround to get you up and running again.


Fix For the CrowdStrike Outage


Although Microsoft and CrowdStrike have taken steps to correct the problem, many are still being affected. If you, your business, or anyone you know is still down, the following workaround steps can be taken to resolve these issues.


Workaround Steps for the CrowdStrike outage:


  1. Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment

  2. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory

  3. Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it.

  4. Boot the host normally.
